Pediatric surgery unit is the unit that covers all preoperative and postoperative processes in diseases that require surgical operation in children between 0-16. It works together with departments such as neonatal unit, trauma and intensive care.
The surgical process for children is different from that of adults. Because the tissues of children are more sensitive. For example; anesthesia procedures or surgical instruments used differ in children.
Children’s immune system has low resistance against infections. This is because they have not reached full development. Therefore, treatments aim to increase mental and physical development. Since cell division is rapid in children, recovery times are shorter than in adults.
